ここのところ、１月最後の追い込みで忙しく、ほとんど会社泊まり。一晩中、ＶＯＡを聞き流している。更新もままならず、今一歌詞も不明であるが、なんとなく聞きほれている。

自然な英語に聞こえる。英語は、昔英雄の言葉などと思ったり、ドイツ語は独り言などとあてこすったりしていたが、今、英語系は、こころの叫びをうまく表現するのにも適しているな、とついつい思ってしまう。今回、長く聞いていられたのも、そういう感じが強いからだと思う。こんな曲群でも聴いていないと、やっていられない破目に陥ってもいる。

Sleigh Bellsというのは、日本語でいえば鈴口だそうで、神社でお賽銭をあげたり拝んだりするときに綱を引くと上にかかっている鈴が大きさに応じたいろいろな音色を奏でるアレのことである。

自分は大人になっても気がつかなかったが、もう一つ、別の意味があるそうである。ある年配の女性が、女もこの年まで生きておれば、鈴口が何を模しているかぐらいわかりますよ、という発言を聞いて、それを詮索してようやくわかったものだ。まあ、そういわれてみると、そういう気も確かにするが、民俗の方の話は結局、男女の結びつきや子孫の繁栄などと関連していくことになる。アメリカのSleigh Bellsも日本のそれと瓜二つである。
